About Refined Home Remodeling

Sixteen years of renovations, finished on paper and on time.

Refined Home Remodeling was founded in 2008 in Wilton, Connecticut, as a single-trade carpentry shop. Sixteen years later we operate as a full-service renovation and remodeling firm with crews licensed across thirty-eight states, handling everything from bathroom refreshes to whole-home rebuilds after storm or age damage.

We work the way architects expect projects to be run — site survey first, drawings second, fixed-price proposal third, construction only after sign-off. Every job has a dedicated project manager, a written schedule, and daily progress photos delivered to your phone.

Why Choose Us

Six promises we put in writing.

Most renovation disputes come from things never written down. We write ours down before the first hammer swings.

Licensed & Insured

State-by-state contractor licensing, $2M general liability, and workers' comp on every crew member on every site.

Dedicated Project Manager

One point of contact from demolition to walkthrough. Your PM answers calls, texts, and emails within four business hours.

Fixed-Price Proposals

Line-itemed quotes with no open-ended allowances. If we miss something in the survey, we eat the cost — not you.

10-Year Workmanship Warranty

Structural and finish work covered for ten years from handover. Manufacturer warranties pass through in writing.

Permits Pulled & Closed

We pull every required permit and schedule every inspection. Final sign-off and certificate of occupancy land before invoice.

Trade-Certified Crews

Every trade on your project — electric, plumbing, HVAC, roofing — is a licensed subcontractor we have used for at least five years.

Work Process

Five stages, one contract.

From first walkthrough to final walkthrough, every Refined Home Remodeling project follows the same five stages — in the same order, every time.

Architect reviewing blueprints on site
01

Consultation & Site Survey

We walk the property, listen to what you want, and document what's actually there — load paths, plumbing stacks, panel capacity, roof condition. No design ideas yet, just facts on the ground.

  • 90-minute site walkthrough with senior estimator
  • Photo set and measurement survey delivered in 48 hours
  • No cost, no obligation, no upsell
Material sample board with finishes
02

Design & Material Selection

If your project needs drawings, we produce them in-house or with one of our partner architects. If it needs finishes, we open the sample library and walk you through tile, stone, cabinetry, fixtures, and paint — one decision at a time.

  • 2D plans, 3D renders, and finish schedule
  • Material allowance sheet with unit prices
  • HOA and historical review support if needed
Signing contract documents
03

Fixed-Price Proposal

You receive a line-itemed proposal — labor, materials, permits, subcontractors, contingency, schedule. No allowance games, no per-square-foot guesses. The number you sign is the number you pay.

  • Granular line items, not square-foot estimates
  • Payment milestones tied to completed work
  • Change order policy stated upfront in writing

04

Construction & Trades

Demolition, framing, rough-in, drywall, finish, trim, paint — sequenced by a single project manager who is on site every working day. Daily progress photos land in your inbox before sundown.

  • Daily photo log and weekly status call
  • Site cleaned end-of-day, dust containment where required
  • Permit inspections scheduled and attended by us

05

Handover & Walkthrough

Final walkthrough with your project manager — every surface, every fixture, every mechanical system tested in front of you. We hand over warranty documents, manufacturer booklets, permit cards, and the keys.

  • Punch list cleared before final invoice
  • 10-year workmanship warranty paperwork delivered
  • 30-day post-handover follow-up visit at no charge
Services

Nine trades under one contract.

Most renovation firms subcontract everything and disappear between trades. We keep nine in-house or in-network — so your project manager is the only number you need.

01 — Décor

Home Décor

Styling, art curation, accent placement, soft furnishings — the layer that finishes a room after the trades leave.

02 — Whole Home

Interior & Exterior

Whole-home remodeling with continuity from façade to foyer — siding, windows, layout, finish.

03 — Bath

Bathroom Renovation

Waterproofing, fixtures, tile, lighting, ventilation — sealed, signed off, and built to outlast the trend.

04 — Security

Home Security Installation & Maintenance

Cameras, sensors, smart locks, monitoring — wired, configured, and maintained on a service plan.

05 — Fire

Fire Security Installation & Maintenance

Smoke, heat, suppression, code-compliant alarms — inspected, monitored, and documented for insurance.

06 — Roof

Roofing Installation & Maintenance

Asphalt, metal, flat — tear-offs, replacements, and annual inspections with photo reports.

07 — Solar

Solar & Energy Installation

Panels, inverters, battery storage — designed, permitted, installed, and maintained to code.

08 — Floors

Floor Installation & Maintenance

Hardwood, LVP, tile, stone — installed, refinished, and repaired with moisture control underneath.

09 — Openings

Door & Window Installation

Impact-rated, energy-efficient, and custom millwork — flashed, sealed, and warranted.

Home Insurance & Warranty

Renovation-grade coverage, paperwork included.

Every Refined Home Remodeling project closes with two things on paper — a 10-year workmanship warranty on the labor we performed, and a full set of documents you can hand to your homeowners insurance carrier. We don't just finish the work; we make sure your insurer and your home warranty provider can underwrite it.

We coordinate directly with major carriers — State Farm, Allstate, USAA, Chubb, and regional providers — to confirm that materials, finishes, and mechanical systems meet underwriting standards before we install them.

  • 10-Year Workmanship Warranty — structural, finish, and mechanical work covered.
  • Manufacturer Pass-Through — every appliance, fixture, and panel registered in your name.
  • Insurance Carrier Coordination — pre-project verification of materials and code compliance.
  • Certificate of Occupancy — permit closeout and CO delivered before final invoice.

Home Real Estate & Mortgage

Renovation that holds value at resale.

If you're renovating to sell, refinancing, or buying a fixer-upper, we work alongside your real estate agent and mortgage broker from day one. Appraisal-ready documentation, scope letters for lenders, and renovation loan coordination (FHA 203(k), Fannie Mae HomeStyle, and conventional) are part of how we operate — not an upsell.

Our partner network includes licensed appraisers, real estate attorneys, and mortgage brokers in every state we serve, so the renovation is built to hold its value when the appraisal comes in.

  • Renovation Loan Coordination — FHA 203(k), HomeStyle, and conventional draw schedules.
  • Appraisal-Ready Documentation — scope, permits, and finish schedule formatted for lenders.
  • Real Estate Partner Network — agents and attorneys in 38 states.
  • Pre-Sale Renovation Consulting — what to fix for ROI, what to leave alone.
Packages

Three ways to scope the work.

Most projects fall into one of three tiers. Final pricing is always fixed in writing after the site survey — these are typical ranges.

They renovated our 1920s Wilton Colonial kitchen and Butler's pantry in nine weeks — exactly the number on the contract. The plumber they use is the cleanest tradesman I've ever had in my house.

We had Refined Home Remodeling re-roof and add solar to our Austin house after the hail storm. The adjuster actually complimented the install photos — said it was the cleanest roof he'd seen this year.

Three bathroom renovation in our Bellevue split-level. They finished a week early, which I didn't even know was possible. The waterproofing detail under the curbless shower was textbook.

Whole-home remodel after we bought a fixer-upper in Greenwich. Two adults, two kids, and we lived in the house through most of it. The dust containment was so good we didn't find drywall dust in the kids' rooms once.

Security system install on our Charlotte home — cameras, smart locks, smoke detectors tied to monitoring. They walked me through the app for forty minutes. I'm not technical, and I now actually understand it.

Hardwood refinish and new LVP in our Naperville kitchen and mudroom. They moved every stick of furniture, covered what couldn't move, and put it all back. Three days. I have never seen a crew leave a site that clean.

Frequently Asked

Eight questions, answered straight.

We currently hold active contractor licenses in 38 states and operate through licensed partner crews in the remaining 12. Tell us your ZIP code on the booking form and we'll confirm in writing within one business day which path applies to your project.
Yes. The initial site survey and written measurement report are free. We only charge for design work, engineering drawings, and permit-ready plans — and only after you sign off on those services in writing.
A bathroom renovation runs two to four weeks. A kitchen runs six to ten. Whole-home remodels run four to nine months depending on scope. Every contract includes a written Gantt schedule with weekly milestones — and a penalty clause if we miss them.
Our standard warranty is ten years on structural and finish work, five years on mechanical, plumbing, and electrical labor, and the manufacturer warranty passes through on every appliance, fixture, and panel we install. The warranty document is handed to you at the walkthrough.
For single-room and bath projects, almost always yes — we use ZipWall dust barriers and HEPA-filtered negative air where required. For whole-home remodels, we'll tell you honestly during the survey whether you should plan to move out for part of the project.
Every time, every project. We pull the permit, schedule the inspections, and attend them with the inspector on site. The closed permit card and certificate of occupancy are delivered to you before the final invoice.
Milestone-based, never upfront. A typical schedule is 10% at contract signing, 25% at demolition completion, 30% at rough-in, 25% at finish, and 10% at final walkthrough after punch list closure. Every milestone is defined in the contract before signing.
Yes. We coordinate with FHA 203(k) and Fannie Mae HomeStyle lenders, provide draw schedules, and produce appraisal-ready scope letters. For insurance claims — storm, water, fire — we work directly with your adjuster and provide photo documentation in the format carriers require.
